Effects of the Enneagram Group Counseling Program on Self-esteem, Anxiety and Interpersonal Relationships in Nursing Students

Abstract
Purpose
This study was done to examine the effects of the enneagram group counseling program on self-esteem, anxiety and interpersonal relationships in nursing students. Methods: The study was designed using a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The participants consisted of 52 nursing students (26 in the experimental group and 26 in the control group). Nursing students in the experiment group participated in the enneagram group counseling program. The data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 14.0 program. Results: The anxiety level of the experimental group decreased significantly from those in the control group. However, self-esteem and interpersonal relationships in the experimental group were not different from those in the control group. Conclusions: The enneagram group counseling program was effective in decreasing anxiety for nursing students.
